Kiara Advani

Kiara Advani (born Alia Advani, and she changed her screen name to avoid the obvious confusion) took a slow, unglamorous route to the top, a barely-noticed debut followed by a small but sticky role as Dhoni’s wife in the cricketer’s biopic. The breakout took its time, and then it arrived all at once.

Kabir Singh, for all the argument the film provoked, made her a household name; Good Newwz showed the comedy chops; and Shershaah paired her, on screen and eventually off, with Sidharth Malhotra. By the early twenties she had quietly become one of the most bankable actresses in Hindi cinema without ever seeming to force it.

Married to Malhotra now, she is half of a much-watched couple and a paparazzi regular in her own right. Our lenses catch her often around Mumbai.
