Ek Villain made him a romantic-thriller draw, Kapoor and Sons showed he could hold his own in a proper ensemble drama, and Shershaah, in which he played the Kargil war hero Vikram Batra, was the role that finally lined up the actor with a hit and won over a lot of doubters.
