Renuka Shahane is an Indian actress and director born on 7 October 1966, who became a household name across Hindi and Marathi cinema and television. She first won national affection as the warm co-host of the long-running documentary show Surabhi.
At the peak of that fame she played Sooraj Barjatya’s beloved Pooja in the record-breaking blockbuster Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994). She later turned filmmaker, directing the Marathi film Rita and the acclaimed Netflix drama Tribhanga (2021).
Graceful and thoughtful, she has moved comfortably between acting and directing across two industries.
She married actor Ashutosh Rana in 2001, and the couple has two sons.
