Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon came to Hindi films via modelling and a debut in Telugu cinema, and spent her early Bollywood years in exactly the sort of glossy, decorative roles that are easy to dismiss. The reassessment came when she stopped waiting for better parts and started picking them.

Bareilly Ki Barfi showed the comic timing, and then Mimi, in which she played a surrogate mother and reportedly gained real weight for the role, won her a National Award and settled the question of whether she could carry a film on her own. She has since branched into producing and building her own consumer brands, treating stardom as a business as much as a craft.

Tall, camera-ready and a regular on the Mumbai circuit, she is a familiar face for the paparazzi outside every event and airport. When she is around, the lenses know it.
